MacDonald Park /məkˈdɒnəld pɑːrk/ located in the Hundred of Munno Para, was developed by MacDonald Reid Pty Ltd in 1964. The area was officially established with the intention of expanding residential and commercial opportunities in the region. It marks a significant step in urban planning for the northern suburbs, contributing to the growth and infrastructure of the surrounding districts.[1]

History


In the early 1960s, a portion of the Smithfield Magazine area, no longer in use, and was sold by the government. This section of the former munitions factory, originally established in the early 1940s, was repurposed for development. By 1964, MacDonald Reid Pty Ltd had transformed the land into the MacDonald Park hamlets, contributing to the expansion of the area with new residential subdivisions.[2]
