John Wayne Glover (1932–2005), also known as the "Granny Killer", was an English-born Australian serial killer infamous for murdering elderly women. Glover relocated to Australia at the age of 25 and led an apparently normal life with no criminal history until his late 50s.
The reasons behind the start of his killings remain unclear. In 1989, he began a series of murders, targeting six elderly women within a single year. His method involved striking victims with a hammer and subsequently strangling them using their underwear.
Glover's final victim was a woman with whom he had a sexual relationship. Following this murder, he attempted to take his own life but was discovered by authorities and revived to face trial. He was convicted of the murders and sentenced to life imprisonment. Glover died by suicide in his prison cell in 2005.
